A: Communication and language skills improve dramatically for students who participate in the Progressive Learning program. This program requires regular written communication between students and their Academic Coaches. As a result, students quickly become more proficient at organizing their thoughts. Students also show rapid gains with regard to reading, writing, and keyboarding skills.
Q: Why is this Program needed?
A: Educators are now under intense pressure from parents, politicians and employers to significantly improve student academic performance. The Progressive Learning program provides a solution which works in harmony with the existing infrastructure.
Q: Why is Progressive Learning so unique and innovative?
A: Typically, the warm, caring, talented human component of teaching and the latest technological resources have been mutually exclusive. Progressive Learning uniquely integrates personal contact, distance learning, plus some of the best online resources available. Research by a number of organizations, including the Carnegie Group, Johns Hopkins University, and the National Center on Public Education and Social Policy, has affirmed that an ongoing relationship with a caring adult can be the critical element a student needs to succeed. A personal Academic Coach from Progressive Learning interacts as a mentor and motivator with each student. Students are applauded for their successes and exhorted to improve when their performance is lacking.
Q: How are Academic Coaches selected?
A: Progressive Learning recruits from a nationwide pool of experienced and talented teachers, one that is not limited to the teacher candidate population normally available to each school.
Q: How is the program managed?
A: Progressive Learning closely monitors and supervises the interaction between each student and Academic Coach. Every Academic Coach works as a team member with individual classroom teachers to meet the specific goals and objectives for each student. Every Academic Coach in turn instructs under the direction of and in collaboration with a highly-qualified, experienced supervisor, or Master Academic Coach.
