Computer Lab Setup Instructions

1. Log in to the workstation as a user with administrator rights, such as “techco”.

2. Make sure the computer meets the minimum system requirements.

Compass System Check

To check to see if your hardware meets the requirements, go to Start, My Computer, System.

Make sure that the system is a Pentium 4 or equivalent, and has 256 MB Ram of Memory. If there are any questions, call (800) 315-4330.

3. Run Compass Requirements Check

• Click on Check System

• If you see a red "x" by Internet Explorer or an error message, then the web browser doesn't meet the minimum requirement. Install Internet Explorer

• If you see a red "x" by Adobe Reader, then install Adobe Reader
• Adobe Reader

4. Install Plugin Updates as Needed

• Look for any Red X's by Jave Script, Flash Player, Quicktime or Shockwave, then
• Install additional software as needed
• You will find all the Plugin software links directly below this text
• Flash Player
• Java Script
• Quicktime
• Shockwave

5. Verify Plugins are installed

• Quicktime Verification
• Java Script Verification
• Shockwave and Flash Verification

6. Copy Progressive Learning Student Shortcut onto Desktop

• Click on this link -> http://www.progressivelearning.com/student.htm
• Right click on the webpage (anywhere in the body) and click Create Shortcut, when a box pops up asking you if you want to add the shortcut to the desktop, click Yes.

7. Turn off Pop-up Blocker

Go to Tools, Pop-up Bocker, and click Turn-off Pop-up Blocker.

8. Add Progressive Learning, Compass and Gaggle to the Trusted Sites

• From Internet Explorer, Click on Tools, Security, Sites and then type in
• progressivelearning.com
• and then click Add
• gaggle.net
• and then click Add
• compasslearningodyssey.com
• and then click Add
• thelearningodyssey.com
• and then click Add
• childu.com
• and then click Add
• Then click Close
• Then click OK
